I found this book to be an enjoyable read.
As usual Mr. Quasar researches and analyzes cases of unusual happenings at sea, and either draws the best conclusion to the mystery or leaves us all of the known evidence to the case to draw our own conclusions.
Mr. Quasar includes some of the most well known stories from the sea, but he also tells of some more minor vanishings and derelicts.
If you are a newbie to Gian's writings or an old salt, you will love this book.
As always,i look forward to his next mystery !
I like to dabble in the paranormal, and this author is definitely an interesting read. He does in depth research and is an expert in his field. He's interviewed on tv and that's where I found out about him. Check out this book.
I enjoyed reading Distant Horizons, it was interesting, and very thought provoking. Gian spends a lot of time on research and gives you enough information to draw your own conclusions about what may or may not have happened to lost and/or abandoned ships at sea past and present. If you like reading about mysterious happenings, you will like this book. I look forward to reading more of Gian's books in the near future.
This is the third book I have read by this author, and I came across his work by word of mouth at a coffee shop. As usually, this book was well researched and I really didn't have any idea what the book was about going into it, just thought I would read another one of his books. The book really left you thinking, I had never heard some of the storys and some I had, but never really followed them, but will now. This is a very interesting read and well worth checking out.
Having read all of Mr. Quasar's previous tomes - I was expecting this effort to be on par with his outstanding, unparalleled, and meticulous research, and I was not disappointed. Being a retired "hydronaut" from the U.S. Coast Guard, I was thrilled to learn so much about the various mysteries surrounding the better known derelict cases, such as the "Mary Celeste", "Carroll A. Deering" or the "Ellen Austin", the ones I was most familiar with. But reader! There is so much more in this offering, so much more. If sea-borne mysteries are your intrigue, then this is the book to read, this is the book to reference, and this is the book to learn about that subject. The reader will be surprised to learn just how strange this mystery is. It's in the details folks. The author has, without doubt done his research well and his damn best to shed light on these many mysteries, that have only vaguely crossed the average person's awareness. Looking for an enlightening read about the 7 sea's greatest mysteries? Then I invite you, no, I encourage you, reader, to get yourself a copy of this magnificent book and dig in for true high-seas adventure, the likes of which you aren't going to find anywhere else. Highly recommended? You bet!
while he doesn't cover a lot of new ground this book is a real page turner
Gian Quasar's insight is wonderful. Distant Horizons is another excellent book. If you buy this you should also buy Into The Bermuda Triangle. Both are excellent books!!!
